Kombinasi is a set of movements (forms) of PD techniques that is trained to students in every training session. In most silat this kind of forms are called as Jurus  or similar to Kata in karate. However, there is a different between Kata, Jurus and kombinasi. What is the different ?

The different is that kombinasi is created by PD instructor on the spot, when they are in training session. It is not a set of movement that has to be memorized by students.

Kombinasi is created by visualizing a Serang Hindar condition. A student will do 5 to 10 moves repeatedly until 50 – 100 times with full power. The objective of kombinasi is to create a good habits  and good reflex for students. This will also build the muscle to adopt PD technique correctly. Kombinasi is created by instructor with different moves in every session, either with empty hands or using weapons.

One advantage of kombinasi is to customize a reflex. Reflex movements from a  person can be performed due to they are kept deeply inside human’s memory. In order to store a good reflex of PD technique, an instructor will train the students a lot of variation technique during kombinasi training. Those kombinasi are repeated from 50 to 100 times, so it will be stored into the deepest side of student’s  memory.

The training of kombinasi technique is the main key for PD student in learning silat technique. Even though there is a range of Teknik Asli, PD still drives the students to focus more on exercising kombinasi techniques. Teknik Asli is just an additional lesson for them to know better about the original technique. However, training a kombinasi technique is a reflection of a real battle situation. Thus, this is more important than Teknik Asli, since one of the objectives in training silat is to be able to defense themselves when their live in danger.

Of course, looking for a real battle is totally not the main purpose in PD. All the skills gained in PD is more to defense ourselves and to gather more friends world wide.
