When a student has reached instructor level, s/he will have a breathing exercise. This exercise is to upgrade instructor's skill, after their PD muscle is well trained on previous levels.
Breathing exercise in PD consists of 3 different levels. The first level is the lesson of how to build the power. An instructor will have a breathing lesson inpower development. The advantage of this exercise is to give an extra power to instructor, so they become stronger in power wise. The disadvantage of this lesson is that this lesson will slow down the speed of the practitioner.
Once an instructor has completed the power development lesson, they have to continue to the next step: power explosion lesson. As a second level of breathing exercise, power explosion is used to deliver the power in a fast move. This will fasten back the speed of an instructor who had been slowing down during the power development exercise.
The last level of breathing exercise is the implementation phase. During the implementation exercise, an instructor is taught how to use the energy in technique application. They will be able to breathe smooth, move fast and also produce a huge energy when needed. All kind of breathing exercise will then be trained in technique implementation. Thus, this lesson will only be given to senior instructors only by the grand masters (pendekar).
